NNTA News and Events

The Border Tart: NNTA Newsletter November 2003

BORDER EVENTS MAGAZINE
The company borderevents.com has just joined our association. It produces a free, attractive, handy-sized magazine, in colour and black and white, with the strapline where to go, things to do, places to see. It is designed to support local businesses by publicising events on both sides of the Border. One or two of our members have already taken out paid adverts but event listings are free.

Since its launch in November 2002 it has set itself to prove to sceptics that the Borders is an exciting place to live in and visit, and that there is plenty going on for all the family. This Christmas it is emphasising the message that people can support their local businesses by shopping locally.

The current issue, which covers November and December 2003, has sections on Weekly Border Events; Arts, Crafts & Exhibitions; November and December Events; Party Time; Food For Thought (restaurants, hotels, pubs, cafes and tearooms), Sport & Leisure and Christmas Competitions, as well as editorial and a relevant Business Section and Web Directory.

Published every two months, Border Events is therefore current for 8 weeks and is widely distributed as a free events magazine throughout the Borders, North Northumberland and the Lothians. Colour and black & white advertising is available at affordable rates and it has an interactive web site with banner advertising. It boasts a web directory in magazine and on-line.

Lesley Wilkinson at Border Events is very keen to include North Northumberland events and visitor attractions. She agrees that 'Border' is just a convenient term and that however far south in Northumberland our Members are, she will be happy to feature their events. Remember: you can get your events listed free.
The November & December printed edition is already out but you can still reach the public by putting your November or December events on Border Events's web site. Just go to the home page of www.borderevents.com, click the right tab and submit your event details on-line. This will then be transmitted to Lesley, and she will edit it and put it online free of charge immediately.

The NNTA has always had as one of its aims the extension of the tourist season for its members, if they so wish, into late Autumn, Winter and early Spring. Publicity through this magazine and its web site can help you achieve that objective.

Deadline for the January/February magazine issue is Wednesday 10 December. You just have to submit your event details, with start and finish dates, venue and admission cost, plus your name, address & postcode, tel. & fax numbers, E-mail & web site details where available. You can do so by E-mail (info@borderevents.com), fax (01750-723509), post (2 Heatherlie Park, Selkirk, TD7 5AL) or interactively by clicking on to the web site www.borderevents.com
If you require further information, Lesley can be reached on 01750 725480. She is very friendly and helpful!
