Regional Image Campaign

A multi million pound campaign to raise the profile and update the image of North East England regionally, nationally and internationally has launched this week.

Nine regional launch events are underway at: The Newcastle Falcons, Matfen Hall, Locomotion - the national railway museum at Shildon, Hartlepool Marina, the Stadium of Light in Sunderland, Queen's Campus Stockton, Alnwick Castle and Raby Castle.

MORI research findings have revealed that nationally, awareness of North East England and what it has to offer is low, so the campaign highlights North East England as a great place to do business, live, work, study and visit.

The campaign themes use the regions key assets of history and heritage, coast and countryside, city culture and innovative business. The people of the North East also feature strongly.

The marketing campaign includes the new North East England regional identifier, Featuring a series of adverts using the strapline  'Passionate People. Passionate Places'  they will appear in national news papers, in railway stations and airports and on taxis.  Here are some examples of the campaign adverts: Thomas ZehetmairPhilip McDonaghArnab Basu

The advertising will appear in national daily and weekend newspapers, on high profile poster sites in airports, east coast mainline and London Underground stations as well as on taxis in London and the North East. Special features will be running in the regional media.

A comprehensive regional and national PR programme is also part of the campaign. If you want to back the campaign, you can adopt the new North East England brand and submit newsworthy stories to the Regional Image team on 0191 229 6719. Please go to www.northeastengland.co.uk for more information.
