Cragside

Cragside House was built between 1864 and 1884 for the first Lord Armstrong, it was the first house in the world to be lit by hydro-electricity. Cragside has 900 acres of grounds, and it is possible to drive or walk 40 miles within the grounds.  It is renowned for its beautiful rhododendrons and trees.
