Belford

The old coaching village of Belford is situated half a mile off the A1 midway between Alnwick and Berwick-upon-Tweed and just 5 miles inland from the coast.
The village still has the original 18th century coaching inn (with the original exterior now inside) and also has a doctor's surgery, dentist, post office, chemist, launderette, craft shop, coffee shop and a fish and chip shop!
There are three pubs, a supermarket (With cash point), Farm Shop, golf club and specialist shops! The church has a renowned annual Flower Festival and a small permanent exhibition. Whilst the church yard still has its 18th century mortuary with barred windows to deter body snatchers and many of the houses and shops retain their Georgian windows.
The village is popular with the climbing fraternity as Bowden Doors and Kyloe Ridge offer some of the best rock climbing in the North. There are a range of footpaths and cycle ways around and passing through the village leading to places such as St Cuthbert's Cave.
Belford is a very active village with regular concerts and events and is also renowned for its New Years Eve activities with a piper, fireworks and torchlight procession. You can even join in the annual Fun Run, village show or pancake and wheelbarrow races if you like!
